National Geographic defines geographic information system (GIS) as a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface. On the other hand, Remote sensing is the science of obtaining information about objects or areas from a distance, typically from an aircraft or satellites.
GIS and remote sensing enables people to more easily see, analyze, and understand patterns and relationships. The accessibility of spatial data for assessment and, in turn, improved planning enables Hikma Foundation to increase her efficiency, thereby contributing to maximization of aid and sustainable development.
Hikma Foundation has seasoned GIS and Remote sensing experts who also double up as environmental, hydrology and engineering experts. This combination of expertise is crucial in producing thematic base maps to be used as resource materials for designs and project planning in the agricultural, health, water, education, energy and environmental sectors.
